Fire Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
As with almost everything to do with health and Safety, the Fire Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires you to carry out a risk assessment of your premises to identify any hazards and the likelihood of a fire being caused by hazard, in addition the risk assessment must also identify where there is a need for fire fighting appliances, detectors and alarm systems. An assessment of fire risk must also be carried out in any other places that you carry out work.
In addition to this, the British Standards Institute (BSI), has published a new standard - BS 9999 which gives guidance on the design, management and use of buildings and covers; Fire Safety Management, The Provision and Means of escape, Structural Protection of Escape Routes and Provision of access and facilities for Fire Fighting.
